The continent has beckoned explorers, writers and adventure seekers for over 200 years. It’s as exotic and exciting as it sounds. Now, it’s your turn. Africa is calling. We are your experts.

At the African Safari Company & Expeditions our goal is to provide the most comfortable and hassle-free trip you will ever have. We specialize in small groups and custom safaris for the independent traveler, photographers, families and multi-generational trips, women’s small group travel and honeymoon safaris. We have planned weddings in South Africa, designed primate safaris to Uganda and Rwanda, crafted art and literary tours to Kenya and many, many more. We have visited camps and lodges from the remote Bale Mountains in Ethiopia and Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau to Uganda’s Murchison Falls and Namibia’s spectacular Damaraland. Between our team, we have 45 years combined experience working and operating adventure and luxury safaris based in Africa and the United States. While we have traveled extensively throughout East and Southern Africa over the years, each of us does have specific areas of expertise and countries that we have completely fallen in love with and return to over and over and over.

Our team has traveled the African continent, developing relationships with camps, lodges and guides, personally selecting each of our safari partners. All of our local contacts were chosen for their expertise, local knowledge and reputation for outstanding service. We are a family-owned and operated business, so we understand that your vacation in Africa is precious time and your adventures in Africa will be cherished memories. As African safari experts with in-depth, first-hand experience on the ground, we will design the right safari for you.

Mike Nesbitt founded African Safari Company & Expeditions in 1998, and Africa is the soul of our company. Mike was born and raised in South Africa, Julia’s mother hails from Zimbabwe and Julia spent her summers running wild on her grandparents farm in Africa decades before she moved to Zambia to manage a camp in the South Luangwa Valley. Lyndsay first visited Africa at 18-years-old and attended a university program outside of Nairobi, Kenya. She caught the “Africa Bug” and has been returning to Africa and exploring the continent two or three times a year for the last two decades. We are continuing our tradition of exploring Africa with our children, as well. Lyndsay’s 5-year-old son has already visited Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique and will visit Kenya next year. Family-friendly safaris are one of our specialties and we know how to navigate the challenges seamlessly and include our tried-and-true tricks for a successful family safari in Africa!

We look forward to welcoming you to Africa!
