Day 1: Nairobi
Upon an early morning arrival into Nairobi you will be met and transferred to the Crowne Plaza. After check in, freshen up and proceed to Daphne Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage followed by lunch at any of the nearby restaurants or cafes (which is on your own account). After lunch visit the famous Giraffe Centre, where one has the opportunity to feed the rare Rothschild giraffe. Later this afternoon return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Crowne Plaza Nairobi is a stylish, newly built hotel, located in the commercially important area of Upper Hill Nairobi, off Kilimanjaro road. The hotel is surrounded by various multinational companies, diplomatic missions, banks, government offices, and hospitals, just a half hour drive from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, 10 minutes drive to the City Centre and 20 minutes drive to the famous Nairobi National Park and Animal Orphanage.
The hotel has 162 superbly appointed spacious rooms which include thirteen suites, and a Club Floor with its Exclusive Lounge. All rooms are air conditioned and have high speed wireless internet connectivity. The hotel has an ultra modern fitness centre and heated swimming pool, several restaurants and bar. Day 2: Samburu
After breakfast you will be met and transferred to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight to Samburu. The flight will take you close to the spectacular snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. Upon arrival at Samburu, transfer to Samburu Intrepids Camp using the lodge’s own 4×4 vehicles on a shared basis. En route you will drive through one of the continent’s most spectacular wilderness areas – home to huge herds of elephant, buffalo and all the big cats. After lunch and a short siesta you head for the plains and a variety of close encounters with Samburu’s unique and endangered wildlife. You will often be able to see elephants and other big game from the privacy of your own balcony. Overnight Samburu Intrepids Camp. All meals.
Samburu Intrepids Camp
Perched on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the heart of Samburu, this luxurious tented camp offers modern tents with private views over the wildlife-rich riverbanks. The tents are spacious and include four-poster beds, handsome mahogany closets and writing desks and en suite bathrooms with steaming hot showers. The camp’s location deep inside the reserve, guarantees close encounters with the region’s excellent wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard, and Samburu’s famous “unique five”: the rare reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk antelope, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra and the majestic Beisa oryx. Meals are served looking out over the river from the camps restaurant or on your veranda.
Day 3: Samburu
Arise early for a morning game drive returning to the camp for breakfast. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Overnight Samburu Intrepids Camp. All meals.
Day 4: Great Rift Valley/Lake Naivasha
After a morning game drive and breakfast, transfer to Samburu airstrip for flight departure at mid-day to the bird-fringed shores of Lake Naivasha. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Great Rift Valley Lodge for lunch. The afternoon will be spent relaxing, including a gentle boat trip on the lake. Other activities available are a spectacular golf course, playing tennis, or lounging by one of the world’s most panoramic swimming pools. Overnight Great Rift Valley Lodge. All meals.
Great Rift Valley Lodge
Just one and a half hours’ drive from Nairobi, the location here is magnificent, with views that stretch from the shimmering waters of Lake Naivasha to the jagged volcanic crater of Mount Longonot. The rooms are beautifully furnished with large four-poster beds, handmade wooden furniture, African prints and modern en suite bathrooms. The social heart’of the lodge is the clubhouse building, which offers fine dining and beautiful views from its panoramic restaurant and broad balconies.
Around the clubhouse, the lush fairways and sparkling lakes of the golf course fan out in different directions, all with sweeping views over the surrounding countryside. Visitors can also take advantage of a wide variety of sports, including a driving range and practice greens, two tennis courts, a freeform swimming pool, as well as escorted game and bird walks with expert naturalists, boating and line fishing on Lake Naivasha, horse riding and mountain biking in the ground as well as optional day trips to Hell’s Gate or Lake Nakuru National Parks. Day 5: Great Rift Valley/Lake Naivasha
This morning depart for a morning game drive to Lake Nakuru National Park and return back to the lodge for lunch and the remaining of the afternoon will be spent at your leisure to enjoy all the local activities offered. Overnight Great Rift Valley Lodge. All meals.
Day 6: Maasai Mara
After breakfast, you drive to the Naivasha Ebony Curio Emporium, the largest of its kind in the world, where one can watch expert craftsmen working. Return back to the lodge for lunch before being transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara where you will be met by a lodge vehicle with a game drive en route to the lodge. Mara Intrepids Tented Camp
Sitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River at the confluence of the Maasai Mara’s four game-viewing areas, the camp enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the Maasai Mara ecosystem. 30 luxury tents are widely spread (into four distinct areas) across a large riverside site to ensure guests the optimum privacy and peace. Each tent sits on a shady platform, with sweeping views over the riverbanks where a wide variety of animals come to drink.
Tents are furnished in the classic style of the grand African safaris, with large four-poster beds and handsome reproduction furniture offset by modern en suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets and all modern amenities. The camp also enjoys a very close relationship with the local Maasai community, from which most of the staff hails from. Activities are in 4×4 vehicles and accompanied by experienced guides as well and walking safaris just outside the reserve.
Day 7: Masai Mara
Mara Intrepids Tented Camp is situated on the banks of the Talek River in the heart of this great wilderness, where you’re very likely to see wild animals from your own balcony. But the real aim of the game here is a proper wilderness immersion, and you’ll be allocated your own highly trained guide to guide you on the morning and afternoon game drive. Day 8: Depart
After a morning game drive and lunch, you’ll transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Nairobi. On arrival at Wilson Airport, you will be met and transferred to the airport or city centre for onward arrangements.
