Day 1, 2 & 3: Southern Okavango Delta

Arrive in Maun this morning where you are met and assisted to the light aircraft transfer to the Okavango Delta and your first luxury camp. Chitabe Camp is situated in a private concession area on a beautiful island in the south-east of the Okavango Delta, Botswana. While playing host to the diversity of wildlife, birds and habitats which only the Okavango Delta can offer, this area is a breathtaking mosaic of open floodplains, waterways, marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodland, riverine forest and open grasslands which is notably in contrast to the areas further north.

Activities here include day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, nature walks and spectacular birdwatching. The multiplicity of habitats surrounding Chitabe Camp means there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen, including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, impala and, occasionally, wild dogs. Night drives also provide opportunities for guests to see nocturnal mammals such as civet, serval, genet, porcupine and aardwolf. Chitabe Camp also has two elevated platforms located in the reserve, one of which is within walking distance from the camp. Guests can experience a "sleep out" in the Okavango Delta under the stars in full comfort and safety.

The thatched dining area, lounge and pub are also raised on decks overlooking the surrounding flood plains. A pool allows guests to cool off from the heat of the day.

Day 4, 5 & 6: Northern Okavango Delta

Enjoy the scenic light air transfer today over the Okavango Delta to your second safari camp, Little Vumbura Camp is situated on an island in a private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, in the same region as its sister camp, Vumbura Plains. Surrounded as it is by water and lying close to large rivers, water-based activities are a focus at Little Vumbura Camp with mokoros traversing the floodplains under the guidance of experienced polers. Motor boats make their way up and down the permanent channels. Game drives in open Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas. Walks (on request) around the islands are an opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective. Game viewing is consistently good all year round at Little Vumbura Camp with lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo along with extensive plains game providing an excellent all-round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Okavango Delta.

Day 7, 8 & 9: Linyanti Wildlife Reserve

Leave the aquatic landscapes of the Delta behind you and fly north to the private 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, which borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. Duma Tau Camp is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system, which makes game drives along the Savute one of the highlights of a stay here. The region has all the habitat diversity to make it a haven for wildlife, and is well-known for its elephant concentrations as they congregate along the waterways and lagoons during the dry winter months. General wildlife viewing is excellent year round including impala, wildebeest, red lechwe, Burchell's zebra, giraffe, Cape buffalo, chacma baboon, vervet monkey, and warthog. Predator sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyaena are good.

Wildlife viewing is the primary activity at DumaTau Camp, either on day and night game drives or while on foot and on the water (levels permitting). Short nature walks can be taken along the Linyanti River and Savute Channel, while the camp's boat takes visitors along the waters of the Linyanti, with hippo and waterfowl alike to entrance. There are also a number of platforms and hides from which to view and photograph animals and birds. One of the best hides is right at the source of the Savute and many species of game and birdlife can usually be seen from this hide.
