Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg

You will be met on arrival by our representative and transferred to the Protea Wanderers Hotel in the northern suburb of Illovo.

Protea Wanderers Hotel is ideally situated on the green belt of Johannesburg, in the prestigious northern suburb of Illovo, Sandton. The hotel is mere yards from the Wanderers Cricket stadium, Wanderers Golf Course, and Planet Fitness Health & Fitness Centre. Additionally the location is just minutes away from many of Johannesburg’s major attractions including Sandton City, Rosebank Mall, Melrose Arch precinct and the Johannesburg Zoo.

Day 2, 3 & 4: Madikwe Private Game Reserve

You are transferred to the airport for the quick light aircraft flight to Madikwe Game Reserve. Open Land Rovers with bucket seats and fold-down armrests stand ready to take you on safari and to your luxury lodge. Enjoy the safari experience in the remarkable Madikwe Game Reserve, a 75 000 hectare reserve restored from farmland to its natural environment. The reserve is home to 66 large mammal species including the Big Five and approximately 300 resident and migrant bird species. The reserve has diverse eco-systems of vast plains of open woodlands and grasslands, dissected by the rugged Rant van Tweedepoort, and bordered in the south by the Dwarsberg Mountains. Explore the reserve in morning, afternoon and night game drives and bush walks. Overnights Madikwe Hills. All meals upon arrival at the lodge.

Madikwe Hills Safari Lodge

Set in magnificent koppies among boulders, ten ultra-luxurious glass-fronted suites complete with their own deck and private plunge pools offer absolute privacy and majestic views. The subtle “Afrochic” décor integrates natural elements with colors highlighting Africa’s ambience, with each suite boasting soft sofas, voluptuous mosquito netting and cotton picot linen. Your suite has been designed for complete relaxation and comfort, with fireplaces and under-floor heating for the winter months, and for summer, overhead fans and air-conditioning, proving a welcome respite from the harshness of the African heat. Outside showers, romantic bathrooms and concertina glass doors allow you to truly feel at one with the environment.

Day 5, 6 & 7: Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger Park

Fly from Madikwe back to Johannesburg and then on to Sabi Sands where you are met on arrival and transferred to Leopard Hills. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is undoubtedly the most exclusive private game reserve in South Africa. The 65,000 hectare Sabi Sands Game Reserve is located on the south-western corner of the Kruger National Park. There are no restricting fences between the Kruger Park and Sabi Sands and the wildlife roams freely between the two game reserves. This reserve is renowned for exception leopard sightings so keep your eyes open on game drives and walks. Overnights Leopard Hills. All meals.

Leopard Hills

The lodge is built on a hill overlooking a natural waterhole. Each of the eight beautiful suites, complete with their own sundeck and rock plunge pool offer superb views of the African bushveld beyond. The suites are spacious with air-conditioning and overhead fans to provide welcome respite against the African heat. The breathtaking romantic bathrooms, which include double indoor and outdoor showers have windows, which open to a glorious view of the passing cavalcade below. The comfortable beds are complete with beautiful crisp percale cotton linen, down duvets and pillows, and gracious mosquito netting. A special touch to each suite is the perfection of final touches provided, from weather notes and African poems, to a fine array of bath salts and other bathroom amenities.

Day 8: Elephant Interaction & Timbavati Private Reserve

Today you are transferred by road from Leopard Hills to the Timbavati Game Reserve with stop at Elephant Whispers along the way to introduce you to these magnificent animals. Elephant Whispers has four tamed and trained elephant, varying in ages from eight to thirteen years. Lindiwe, the youngest, is Elephant Whispers’ much loved female. The younger males are Medwa, Talifa, and Shamwari, who range in age from eleven to thirteen years. The hour long Interaction gives you the opportunity to meet each elephant and exchange trunk greetings. Guests can touch the elephant’s skin; feel the different textures on both sides of their ears and underneath their feet and also offer tasty elephant treats to their hosts. Experienced Elephant Handlers will share their in-depth knowledge of fascinating elephant behavior. Drive on to your final safari camp and head out for an afternoon game drive. Overnight Kings Camp. All meals.

Kings Camp

Kings Camp reflects the charm and romance of a colonial past in a pristine corner of unspoiled Africa. The camp is situated facing an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by a wide variety of wildlife, day and night. Eleven generously spacious colonial suites are luxuriously equipped with air-conditioning, Victorian ball-and-claw bath, indoor and outdoor double shower, fully stocked mini-bar and private verandah. Dark tones of wood and thatch offset the natural colors of the bushveld. Room amenities include robes, mosquito repellent, an umbrella, hairdryer and a torch. Your suite is also equipped with its own safe and telephone.

Day 9: Timbavati Private Reserve

Timbavati Game Reserve shares a common unfenced border with the Kruger National Park. This allows the animals free range and ensures guests to the area the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that South Africa has to offer. Timbavati is a “Big Five” Game Reserve: Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo roam freely plus many more species of predator and antelopes. Morning and afternoon game drives with knowledgeable rangers in open vehicles. You will be served tea, coffee and biscuits on your morning game drive and drinks and canapés on your afternoon game drive. Your afternoon game drive gets back after dark, which gives you the opportunity to spot our nocturnal animals with a spotlight. Overnight Kings Camp. All meals.

Day 10: Depart

Today you will depart Kings Camp to Johannesburg and then onward to your final destination.
