Between June and November, Olakira Camp establishes itself in one of the most unspoilt locations in the Northern Serengeti. Situated further east than most other safari camps, Olakira allows guests exclusive use of the largely undisturbed Bolongonja area. In addition to this, the camp is situated very close to the Mara River overlooking a crossing point regularly used by the Great Migration.

Game drives from Olakira have a variety of diverse areas to enjoy including the crocodile and hippo infested waters of the Mara River, the unexplored bush of Bolongonja, and the vast plains of Lobo and Wogakuria. With very few other camps in these areas, Olakira manages to retain a sense of exclusivity, key to its mobile bush camp ideals. In June, the leading herds of topi and eland are usually starting to make their way north from the Western Corridor and Central Plains. Gradually the herds of zebra and wildebeest, which have been spread out over these areas, head towards the Mara River and begin to accumulate on the surrounding plains. Olakira Camp is soon caught up in the midst of the action as 1.5 million mammals begin to cross back and forth through the treacherous waters of the Mara River. Overnights Olakira Camp. All meals.

Olakira Camp

This intimate mobile tented camp has just 6 guest tents and 2 common area tents. Whilst the mobile nature of Olakira Camp allows it to move to the densest concentrations of wildlife, it manages to surprise with its spaciousness and comfort. Each tent has its own private verandah with an amazing view overlooking the Serengeti. Bathrooms are extremely comfortable for a mobile camp, with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet. Large beds, wide private verandas, convenient bathroom facilities, a great lounge area and wonderful food served under the Serengeti stars ensure total well-being. Day 2 & 3: Serengeti National Park (December-March)

You are transferred to the Arusha airport for the early morning flight to the Serengeti, where you have two full days to explore this vast wilderness. Perched in between the well known territories of Ndutu and Seronera, the Moru Kopjes are arguably the most breathtaking scenery the Serengeti has to offer. Surreal rock formations protrude out from the plains and provide cats with a perfect viewpoint to overlook their territories. The Southern Serengeti is most famous for the period between December and March as the migration heads into this fertile grassland to give birth to the next generation of wildebeest and zebra. During these months, vast herds of migratory animals descend upon the Southern Plains–followed intently by a range of predators. When the migration departs, attention shifts back to the Seronera Valley which is well known for its high numbers of resident game and quality game viewing.

The Seronera River provides a constant water source and creates a forest region which follows the course of the river creating good cover for the elusive leopard. Strategically placed with easy access to both these regions, Dunia Camp offers superb game viewing throughout the year. Game drives from Dunia Camp offer an excellent variety of habitats and combine Migration viewing with the search for big cats as well as the rhino - Moru Kopjes currently being the only area in the Serengeti where the illustrious animal can be viewed. Overnights Dunia Camp. All meals.
