Recently redesigned to uncompromising standards of comfort and elegance, Tarkuni is an exceptional choice with five luxurious suites, each with a magnificent en suite bathroom. Tarkuni’s quiet pool and shady salas offer calm and contemplation. Its own traditional boma has seen many celebrations. And its beguiling charm has led many guests to return to what becomes their home in the Kalahari. Your dedicated compliment of field guides and butlers allow you to choose how you would like to spend your day – from breakfast in bed to a leisurely spa treatment in the comfort of your own deck overlooking the magnificence of the Kalahari. Thereafter enjoy a leisurely game drive, and indulge in a private gourmet picnic savoring the essence of Africa.

Tswalu Kalahari is South Africa’s largest private game reserve, covering an area of over 100,000 hectares (1000 sq km or almost a quarter of a million acres). Tswalu is malaria-free and has superlative game and offers sightings of some of South Africa’s rarest and most extraordinary wildlife, including: desert black rhino (Twalu’s population represents one third of South Africa’s entire remaining desert black rhino), black-maned Kalahari lions, meerkats, cheetah and rare antelope such as roan, sable and tsessebe; Tswalu has significant populations of all three. There are over 70 species of mammal and 230 species of birds (including endangered raptors). Other sightings may include the elusive aardvark, aardwolf, pangolin and porcupine. The Kalahari is the ancestral home of the San people (Bushman). Some of their ancient engravings can be seen at Tswalu; current research suggests these may be amongst the oldest art on Earth.

Villa iZulu, Thanda Private Game Reserve, South Africa

There is little wonder that Villa iZulu was voted 'Africa's Leading Luxury Villa' and 'South Africa’s Leading Luxury Villa' at the World Travel Awards. After all, this magnificent homestead is an outstanding safari hideaway for international celebrities, families, wedding parties and holidaymakers in need of privacy. Designed and created for Swedish investors Dan and Christin Olofsson, Villa iZulu was once one of the best-kept secrets in Africa but is now available for the exclusive use of discerning groups of travellers... Those looking for royal treatment. Protected from wild animals by a fence, the Villa features separate accommodation for child-minders and/or VIP security officers, as well as a private helicopter landing pad.

Situated amidst lush green lawns and surrounded by expanses of wild African bush, Villa iZulu can accommodate 10 guests in 5 suites – each with its own private viewing deck and luxurious bathroom. The master bedroom features an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the Villa's private waterhole. The shared main areas include a magnificent Afro-chic inspired dining room and spacious lounge, a state-of-the-art kitchen, a traditional Villa boma and bonfire area, verandas and terraces, many beautiful entertainment areas, including a games room, a private business area, an outdoor gym, a heated swimming pool (with kiddie pool), a wine cellar and a vast viewing deck overlooking the waterhole.

A truly African experience goes beyond the five senses. It’s felt. An early morning or late afternoon safari is the best way to absorb the sights, smells and sounds of Africa. Encounter the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo): the animals that inspire a long-lasting connection with the continent. And, once you’ve found them, go looking for Africa’s other famous five – the Little Five (elephant shrew, rhino beetle, leopard tortoise, ant lion and buffalo weaver). Our guides and trackers are experts in the circle of life, and how it spins both slowly and frenetically in the African bush. They will offer you wildlife lessons from their own cultures and knowledge. They will tell stories and share anecdotes. They will explain, inform, educate and then sit back and let you fall in love with the wild in your own way. With 14 000 hectares to explore, you’ll see diverse wildlife including cheetah, hyena, warthog and the occasional wild dog, as well as abundant bird and plant life. What is more, it’s all exclusively yours. Thanda is a private game reserve and our dedicated staff members are the only people you’ll encounter on the roads while you’re here.

Villa Saebin, Cape Town, South Africa

Every detail has been carefully thought out in the design of this magnificent villa, set in the heart of Cape Town. The brief to the interior designer was to reflect the dual and equally strong influences of Africa and and Asia-Pacific, while maintaining a modern style. Organic shapes and strong colours were used to contrast the clean lines of the architecture. The master suite is a private space above the living areas and overlooks the pool and terrace. The suite has a lounge that opens on to a private deck. There are magnificent views from here and from the large glass sliding doors in the bedroom. The en-suite is a spacious full bathroom with sliding doors giving the space an incredible “outside” feel.

The study is located on the entrance level and provides a peaceful and private retreat away from the entertainment areas. Three of the bedrooms are located a level above this. One of these is furnished with a Queen size bed and has a full en-suite bathroom that opens out on to a private garden. The other two bedrooms each have a Double bed and share a bathroom with a shower. There is a small central garden with sliding doors allowing a seamless indoor/outdoor flow. The next level up houses a spacious open-plan area of living room, dining room, and kitchen. These spaces flow easily out to a large patio with breathtaking views of Cape Town and far beyond. The vista of city, mountain, and sea is the perfect display of Mother City variety.

The kitchen is fully equipped with Miele appliances and there is a separate scullery area for laundry. Just off the kitchen is a yoga room with equipment, mirrors and a TV along with yoga programmes. There is another TV in the living area with a home entertainment system offering music in any area of the villa. Zambia's Lower Zambezi is renowned throughout Africa for its magnificent herds of wild elephant, exceptional predator viewing and of course the Zambezi River. As the Zambezi flows east, close to the Zambezi escarpment, the land between the two forms the Lower Zambezi National Park. The 4000 sq km park was only declared in 1983 and tourism started some seven years later. This area is known for large bull elephants, buffalo herds, excellent lion viewing and the elusive leopard along with the ubiquitous impala and other antelope species. As in all riverine areas, the birding is also excellent. What really makes this area is unique is the Zambezi River, which is 1.7 kilometers wide where it meets the Chongwe. This wide, clear river is dotted with sandy islands with reed beds - the perfect feeding grounds for elephant, buffalo, various species of antelope and exceptional bird life. So boating or canoeing quietly past there islands makes for excellent game viewing.
