Day 1: Arrival & North Seymour Island

This morning you will arrive at the Baltra Airport where you will be met and transferred to the Puerto Ayora harbor to meet the dinghies that will take you out to meet your ship! The staff and crew will welcome you aboard and get you situated in your cabin. After you've had a chance to settle in, enjoy lunch and a short safety breaching before setting sail for North Seymour Island to explore the rocky coast, passing colonies of blue footed boobies and magnificent frigate birds. Water conditions provided, enjoy your first snorkel or hiking adventure today. The waters of the Galapagos are rich with reef hark, rays, colorful fish, garden eels, seals, sea lion and sea turtle!

Back aboard the Petrel you will have time to return to your cabin before joining your naturalist guides and fellow shipmates for your first briefing on the next days activities and dinner. Afterwards enjoy a welcome cocktail with the crew and cabin on the deck and take in the crisp ocean air before retiring for your first night at sea.

Day 2: Vincente Roca Point & Espinosa Point

Today, after a hardy breakfast, you'll head out on the pangas (inflatable dinghies) for your morning excursion to Vincente Roca Point on Isabela Island. The largest in the archipelago, this seahorse-shaped island is also one of the youngest and most volcanically active. Comprised of two separate coves, this site is a large bay with spectacular sea life. Keep an eye out for seahorses, sea turtles, and the strange yet fascinating Mola-mola (sunfish).

After lunch, and time for a siesta while the ship navigates to your next destination, climb back aboard you panga to visit Espinosa Point on Fernandina. The panga will make a wet landing (you will exit the panga into a few feet of water) and at the islands shore begins the days hike. Highlights of this area are the Galapagos hawks,, coral reef at the end of the trail, iguanas, giant tortoise and of course another chance to snorkel in a spot that's great for turtles, rays and tropical fish.

Return to the ship after your first full day of activities to enjoy dinner and perhaps a night cap at the Petrel's bar before resting up for tomorrow.
