The Hotel

The Grand Daddy Hotel, in the lively city of Cape Town, was built in 1874 and opened in 1895 as Hotel Metropole. The now re-branded Grand Daddy proudly boasts an incredibly unique hotel with Capetonian interior designers Beach House Interiors being responsible for the stand out South African Decor. The vintage elevator, from it's original construction, is the oldest elevator in Cape Town, and the hotel's Airstream rooftop trailer park is legendary. The seven glinting, individually themed trailers perched on the Grand's roof take visitors on a fanciful and fuss-free journey. The rooftop also features a sky bar and Pink Flamingo cinema showing classic movies in a drive in style.

The Rooms

Chic, smooth and with a twist at the end, like Cape Town herself, the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel’s luxury rooms and superior rooms are subtle, stylish and shimmering as are the standard rooms with windows onto the inner courtyard. The comforts of an internationally recognized four-star hotel are made all the more special by local touches melded into the decor.

The Trailers

There’s nothing ordinary about going all the way to the United States of America to source seven vintage Airstream trailers, and then hauling them back across the Atlantic and hoisting them onto the roof of an urban hotel. Then again, there’s nothing ordinary about the Grand Daddy.

The seven recently renovated trailers, complete with US Postal Service mailboxes, all have their own individual decor and style, and collectively reflect the “South African road trip”. Drawing inspiration from around Mzansi, the trailers give you a chance to experience different parts of beautiful South Africa from the comfort of your rooftop accommodation. Each Airstream trailer has a queen-size bed, wet room with a shower, and modern comforts like TV, aircon and fridges. The Grand Daddy's trailer suite, called Winelands, is the largest of the Airstream trailers and has an open-plan bedroom with a spacious lounge area.

The Food

The Grand Daddy proudly boasts a top quality eatery! THIRTY ATE at The Grand Daddy offers an exceptional, convenient & diverse dining experience including Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, Cocktails & Wine, Coffees & Desserts as well as the option of exclusive bookings for private events and functions. The menu showcases classic city favorites from prawns to burgers & gourmet sandwiches, and offers an exclusively South African Gin menu, milkshakes, smoothies and a variety of craft beers. THIRTY ATE has an exceptional wine list to complement it's dishes and a welcoming, relaxed & vibrant environment in which to soak up the city atmosphere.
