The Kibale-Fort Portal area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding safari destinations to explore. The park lies close to the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within half a day’s drive of the Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.

Located in the districts of Kabarole and Kamwengehe in southwest Uganda, the 795 sqkm Kibale Forest National Park is a lush tropical rainforest, believed to have the highest density of primates in Africa. It's home to 13 primate species, with the rare red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys the other highlights. The park is most famous for being one of the best places in the world to track wild chimpanzees, with five groups habituated to human contact.

In addition to primates, Kibale Forest is home to a total of 70 mammal species, including bushbuck, sitatunga, buffalo, leopard and a small number of forest elephants. The area is also home to over 375 species of birds and an incredible 250 species of butterfly.

Kibale adjoins Queen Elizabeth National Park to the south to create a 180 kmlong corridor for wildlife between Ishasha, the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Sebitoli in the north of Kibale National Park.
