The Camp

Lagoon is perched on the banks of the wild Kwando River inBotswana, overlooking the Mudumu National Park in the Namibian Caprivi Strip. The camp is nestled beneath towering ebony and marula trees. This enchanting forested site is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals, including elephant and hippo which can often be seen from the camp. The stunning views and close proximity of wildlife all contribute to the pervading sense of calm at Lagoon.

Seasonally large herds of elephant drink at the river bank near to the camp in full view of the main deck, while playful spotted - necked otters are commonly seen performing in the water. Lagoon has a well-earned reputation for big game and large herds of elephant and buffalo, especially in the winter months, when herds of up to a thousand wonder though the trees. In turn, this vast concentration of game attracts the attention of large predators. The Lagoon wild dog pack regularly den close to camp. The close proximity of the pack have earned Lagoon the reputation as one of the best places in Botswana to see wild dog.

The camp's compliment of 22 staff are there to look after guests quietly and efficiently, ensuring a relaxing and peaceful stay.

The Tents

Lagoon Camp accommodates up to 16 guests in eight traditionally styled 'tents.' Spread out along the banks to ensure privacy and the best views, each tent is perched on a polished wood platform and covered with a thatched roof. Each tented room features a well appointed sitting area, indoor and outdoor shower, en suite facilities and either a twin or double bed.


Lagoon Camp's location allows for all of the best activities. The area is ripe with wildlife that can be explored by morning and night game drives or by foot on a guided walking safari. The camp also boasts evening river cruises. This is by far the best way to enjoy the incredible African sunset, relaxing with a drink in hand. Being at the rivers edge, fishing is a great way to spend the afternoon and a wonderful activity for kids.
