Lion Sands Ivory Lodge

The international award winning Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is ultra-luxurious, yet simple and uncluttered. The lodge is about overriding exclusivity with complete privacy, where each suite is operated as a private villa. Baby elephants bathing in the river, zebra, gnu and the large Nile crocodile are the only neighbors you shall see. The public areas at Ivory Lodge offers guests the following: a private bar with fireplace, a library lounge, well stocked wine cellar, wooden viewing decks, a magnificent River Island Deck built on the river, Lalamuka Health Spa & gymnasium, curio shop & both an indoor and open-air (Boma) dining area.

Villas at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge

There are just six generously sized privately situated villas, each with a separate living room, heated swimming pool and an open plan en-suite bathroom with an enclosure for the outdoor. The color scheme of ebony and ivory is interpreted in a modern style, while selected African accessories blend the old world with the new to create Afro-Euro chic. Breathtaking views of the Sabi River, which has flowing water all year around, can be viewed through the over sized windows of your villa or from your private viewing terrace.

Activities at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge

The preserved plains of the Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park hold one of highest concentrations of game per hectare on the planet. This, coupled with ethical and responsible conservation management, have resulted in animals which are highly habituated to human presence. Our landrovers pose no threat, and we able to get really close to countless animal species (including predators, general game, reptiles, insects, and birds-a-plenty).

Rise at sunrise to head into the wild with your Field Guide and Tracker and discover a world usually only reserved for your screen during ‘Animal Planet’. You’ll find yourself in an environment that is as old as time, where the rhythm of nature is the only Governor. There are two opportunities for 4x4 safaris each day. One in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate.

Head out on a walking safari to enjoy the bush in a whole new perspective. There is no such thing as a “typical” walk at Lion Sands. Every guest will have unique interests, and our guides are adept at playing to those interests – be they mammals, birds, flora, insects or geology. Walks generally take place after breakfast and last approximately 1½ to 2 hours, depending on the fitness level of guests. In summer, due to the heat, walks may be incorporated into the morning game drive before heading back to the lodge for breakfast.

Cuisine at Ivory Sands Ivory Lodge

Our chefs are adept at crafting cuisine that will appeal to any palate, be that sweet tooth, vegetarian, health fan or meat lover. Only fresh seasonal ingredients are used, and prepared in the lodge kitchens every day. Three sumptuous meals per day, as well as a number of delectable treats, will ensure that no one goes hungry!

Fire lit bush dinners, set up in the wild, are really popular and never fail to delight. In the event of bad weather, meals are served in the Lodges’ dining spaces. There is nothing quite like a blazing fire on a chilly winter’s eve, with a glass of something delicious.

In the mornings enjoy a, made to order, hot breakfast, wonderful cold offerings buffet or if you prefer something a little more private, you’ll find a delectable tray delivered to your villa served with a smile!
