Dining at Plantation Lodge

Fresh variety is the motto of the Plantation's kitchen. The lodge grows it's own vegetables, salads, herbs and fruit on the property. This means that the spectacular meals from the kitchen are healthy, untreated and particularly tasty. In the restaurant guests are pampered every evening with a fine multi course meal in a stylish, comfortable atmosphere. A wonderfully paired wine from the cellar rounds off the culinary experience. At lunchtime dishes can be enjoyed al fresco and afternoon coffee and cake at one of our garden tables.

Activities at Plantation Lodge

Head out in the morning to the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area starts just 20 minutes by car from Plantation Lodge. After a drive of a further half-hour visitors reach the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2,300 meters where they are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama. When the morning mists float over the edge of the crater they reveal the large volcanic caldera. Some 25,000 animals live in the caldera which has a diameter of 19 kilometers. Zebras, buffalo, antelope, lions, black rhinos, hippos, elephants ... They all feed on the abundant grazing grounds and the groundwater of the crater floor. During the day they share this area with the Maasai, who drive their cattle into the crater to graze.

Other activities at the lodge include taking in the wide varity of wonderfuly colored birds in the flowering gardens with the knowledgeable staff on hand to explain the species as well as guided visits to a local coffee plantation or farm to learn the in's and outs of daily operation.
