The House

The Savanna Suite is an opulent home away from home under thatch. The lounge is a harmonious meld of elegance and comfort with couches grouped around a television and DVD center, and a cozy reading nook in front of the fireplace. Step through sliding glass doors onto a large covered patio where candle-lit dinners or private pre-dinner cocktails may be enjoyed. An attached fully equipped kitchen and guest restroom complete the impression of being in one's own exquisite home.

The Savanna Suite's unique facilities are much in demand by families who would like to have their children under the same roof but not in the same bedroom, or groups of friends wishing to spend quality time together. A butler in attendance at dinner and a private game viewing vehicle with dedicated ranger and tracker to take care of all their needs completes the Savanna Suite package.

The Suites

Two large, beautifully furnished bedrooms lie on either side of an inter-connecting lounge. Each has an over-sized bathroom with free-standing bath, double vanities, double shower and loo. The bathrooms open onto paved outdoor showers. The bedrooms have glass doors with screens leading out onto covered patios, plunge pools and private waterholes in the bush. Each room boasts a well appointed sitting area and plush beds with fine linens.

The Activities

With your private guide and safari 4x4 vehicle, activities at Savanna are at your leisure. Morning and evening game drives are recommended as they take advantage of the times that the wildlife are most active. During the heat of the afternoon, the animals tend to squirrel away in search of shade. In between game drives is a perfect time to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage by the on site masseuse or head out with your guide on a walking safari to get a feel for Africa underfoot, learn more about the grasses and insects, and possibly come across an up close and personal experience with an elephant or buffalo.

Savanna also offers excursions to nearby places of interest and scenic beauty including the spectacular Panorama route and an African village. Here guests visit the school and a traditional healer or medicine man and learn about Shangaan culture and food. On a visit to an elephant sanctuary guests feed and ride the gentle giants. Golf can be arranged at Skukuza or the magnificent Leopard Creek course. These activities, with the exception of golf at Leopard Creek, take place between game drives so no meals or drives are missed. (Prices are available on request)

Bushbaby Activities

Children of all ages are welcome at Savanna Suite. Between game drives, kids of all ages are invited to learn and explore with the guide and tracker. Spoor identification, plant uses, bird watching, butterfly and bug catching, picnics in the bush, village tours, face painting, kitchen activities and arts and crafts are all on offer to help submerge the young ones into their amazing African surrounds. After dinner, sit back and enjoy a drink while the kids head off for a star drive and some night time frogging!

Upon arrival, each child will receive a goodie bush back with items to add to their safari experience. All items collected through out their stay will be put together in a scrapbook before you depart to make sure that the memories truly do last a lifetime.
