Thonga Beach Lodge is set on the pristine shores of the Maputuland coast, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Mabibi is a magical place of coastal forests, grasslands, bush, shimmering lakes and exquisite sandy beaches. Thonga Beach Lodge is situated only meters from the beach and a 24 minute drive from Lake Sibiya (Southern Africa’s largest freshwater lake), which is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, now internationally recognized as a World Heritage Site. The elevated lounge is in line with the forest canopy, offering panoramic ocean views. Al fresco meals are served in the dining room which opens onto an expansive wooden deck and sundowners are sipped on the beach, or on the cool deck under the milkwood trees.

Suites at Thonga Beach Lodge

The 12 thatched suites are raised on wooden stilts ensuring minimal impact to the environment. All the suites are air-conditioned and the sitting areas have ceiling fans and mini-bars. The king or twin beds are draped with mosquito netting and the en suite bathrooms have separate baths as well as indoor and outdoor showers with views.

Activities at Thonga Beach Lodge include kayaking, fishing, boat rides, snorkeling, scuba diving and depending on the time of year, you may also get to experience turtles laying eggs, whale sharks, swimming with dolphins amongst many other sea animals indigenous to this stretch of coast.
