The House

The Wild Olive House features a spacious open-plan sitting room, dining room and beautifully equipped kitchen suitable for any chef. The house also offers two bright and spacious double bedrooms, a smaller single one (bunk beds can be supplied on request), and two bathrooms. The self-contained Wild Olive Cottage has a double bedroom, bathroom with shower and a private sitting room and terrace which looks out over the reserve and up to the mountains.

The option of a morning nature drive to explore the Fynbos Reserve is also available upon prior arrangement. If desired, adults can also choose to eat at the main farmhouse, and meals (as well as babysitters) can be provided for children. Meals and nature drives must be arranged prior to arrival. Children of all ages are welcomed, and the house has its own garden, swimming pool, large shady verandah and outdoor facilities for barbecuing.

There are many different things to do at Bartholomeus Klip and the Wild Olive House, although many guests love to spend their time with us just relaxing. However, if you want to do something more strenuous, we provide mountain bikes for cycling through the reserve or along the farm roads through the wheat fields, and there are plenty of wonderful routes to choose for self-guided walks. Archery is also available. At the dammed lake, guests can take to the water in canoes and kayaks, or go windsurfing, freshwater fishing or bird watching.

All guests should plan to join our rangers on the morning and evening nature drives through the reserve, where there is always something different to discover. In the heart of the Swartland wineries, Wild Olive House is well situated for visits to the village of Riebeek Kasteel and Tulbagh, as well as the up and coming wineries of the Swartland or, farther afield, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.
