Camp Amalinda
The Camp
An African inspired refuge, where world-class facilities combine with the spiritual energy, allure and unique beauty, for which the Matobo Hills is so celebrated.
This exclusive, privately owned safari lodge is in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Matobo Hills, situated only 45kms from Bulawayo. Tucked away into an ancient Bushman’s shelter, Camp Amalinda was voted in the top 3 Safari Lodges in Zimbabwe for 2010 and 2013. The granite domes and castle kopjes of the Matobo Hills echo the essence of tranquility and the majesty of untamed Africa, where mammal and bird species are prolific. Included here are the highest concentrations of Leopard and Black Eagle in the world, as well as a healthy population of the endangered Black and White Rhino.
The Rooms
Amalinda consists of nine individually thatched rooms including a trio of suites, all of which are set into the imposing boulders. All of the rooms and suites have electric blankets for the winter season and an en suite bathroom built into the granite rock face, giving a unique accommodation experience. Tea and coffee stations come standard in each room.
The three suites have recently been refurbished and the camp is proud to introduce, for the first time, “The Lobengula Suite”, “The Rhodes Suite” and “The San Suite”. Each are steeped in African historical artifacts from the bygone era.
The Activities
Activities on offer at Amalinda include a historic trek to Rhodes’ grave and “View of the World”, sunset hikes to the tops of granite dwalas, walks to world renowned caves and bushman paintings, morning and evening game drives into the National Park and Rhino walks (on request).
The camp also has an onsite spa salon with professional masseuse and swimming pool nestled in to the rocks with a wonderful view of the hills.
