The Lodge
For over 30 years Chaa Creek has been providing a comfortable base for exciting inland adventures for thousands of visitors, from explorers, scientists, filmmakers, research groups, students and people of all ages looking for intellectual and physical stimulation in Belize’s vibrant rainforest – the heartland of the Maya. On site activities include an infinity pool, full-service wellness spa, stables, woodshop, organic garden, Natural History Center, Butterfly center and canoeing on the Macal River. The restaurant and bar offer regional and international cuisine.
The lodge’s private 365-acre nature reserve set along the banks of the Macal River in the foothills of the Maya Mountains is home to a number of exotic jungle dwellers including peccaries, jaguar, monkeys and many others as well as over 300 species of tropical and migratory birds. Guests are literally surrounded by one of the most pristine ecosystems in the world, and Chaa Creek is committed to ensuring that it remains vibrant and unspoilt for generations to come.
The Cottages
Chaa Creek’s 23 palm thatched cottage rooms ensure a good night’s sleep and delightful mornings accompanied by the sing song of a rain forest waking up, and guests can choose to upgrade to a complete garden suite, an Orchard and Spa Villa, Macal Cottage or Tree Top Suite, all equipped with a Jacuzzi for even more comfort. And you can rest assured that a stay at Chaa Creek contributes towards sustainable and culturally responsible tourism. The individually designed palm thatched cottages are furnished with a tasteful, casually elegant mix of hand crafted furniture, fine fabrics and local and international art, all designed to blend in with the exquisite rain forest surroundings and local culture. All cottages feature en suite bathrooms, luxury eco-friendly amenities and private verandahs overlooking the forest and gardens.
The Activities
Chaa Creek’s nature reserve offers a wide range of exciting, educational, and healthy activities for adventurers of all ages and abilities.
The 400-acre private reserve hosts miles of well maintained trails for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. The lodges cadre of licensed naturalist guides share their local expertise of Belize’s diverse natural history including the fascinating Maya civilization which once thrived in this area.
Canoe trips down the Macal River are a relaxing way to travel through the jungle and with our Natural History Centre, Butterfly Farm, Rainforest Medicine Trail and numerous activities, your days at Chaa Creek are wonderfully full. Exquisite pampering complimented by stunning views of the Macal River Valley is always available at Chaa Creek’s full-service Hilltop Spa. A host of day tours are also available ranging from ancient Maya Ruins visits, to snorkeling and diving, helicopter tours and more.
