Ghoha Hills Lodge
The Lodge
Ghoha Hills Savuti lodge is an independently owned and run lodge which combines perfectly with lodges in the Okavango Delta and lodges on the Chobe river to give guests amazing insight into the different ecosystems in Botswana. The lodge is situated high up on the Ghoha Hills, with spectacular views of the surrounding bush. The views are unique and awe inspiring, particularly due to the fact that Botswana is such a flat country. The stars feel closer and more pronounced, stretching from horizon to horizon. The main area in the lodge has a thatched roof which helps the lodge blend into the surrounding hillside and feature a dining area, bar and curio shop.
The entire lodge accommodation in Chobe runs purely on “green”, solar energy. the solar panels and massive battery room ensure that hundreds of lights, lamps and lanterns light up the Savuti bush like a wonderland, drawing you from miles away and welcoming you back ‘home’ after your night excursions.
The Rooms
Each luxury room sleeps two people, offers en-suite facilities and has breathtaking views of the African plains. This Ghoha Hills, Savuti accommodation offers individual viewing decks and reclining beds which can be used to enjoy the rustic African landscape. The camp also has 2 Luxury family-size tented rooms that sleep four and is suitable for two adults and two children. Each room is situated along the hillside overlooking the lodges waterhole in the valley. There are no expense spared in the décor and wonderful linens to ensure a good nights rest. The night noises from the plains below filter up to the lodge. There is nothing more powerful than falling asleep with the roar of a lion in the distance.
The Cuisine
The boma is lit in the evenings where guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks. At dinner, wholesome, home cooked meals may be enjoyed. Lunches, dinners, drinks, refreshments and picnic lunches are all included in guests’ costs. Picnic baskets may be taken on game drives and enjoyed whilst admiring the African wilderness.
Breakfasts are hearty and coffee, tea, home baked rusks and biscuits are ready for the early risers at the boma. Home baked biscuits, bread rolls, pastries, cakes and scones are on offer at tea times.
There is always a friendly and helpful staff member on- hand to serve up a freshly brewed bodum of coffee. All meals are served overlooking the bush in the main guest area.
The Activities
Game Activities offered by Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, bird watching, star gazing, and a highlight in the dry season sitting on the viewing deck near camp watching the animals come down to drink during the heat of the day.
From the guest unit and the main area, guests are able to view a productive water hole located below at the edge of the hill. This section of Chobe National Park is frequented by various species including elephants, zebra, buffalo, lions, leopards, giraffe, spotted Hyena, jackals and a variety of bird life.
Game drives take place in the private concession of the Ghoha Hills, and also on the famous Savuti channel and marsh. Day trips with picnic lunches enable one to explore the area in depth and become one with the African bushveld.
