There’s nothing ordinary about going all the way to the United States of America to source seven vintage Airstream trailers, and then hauling them back across the Atlantic and hoisting them onto the roof of an urban hotel. Then again, there’s nothing ordinary about the Grand Daddy.
The seven recently renovated trailers, complete with US Postal Service mailboxes, all have their own individual decor and style, and collectively reflect the “South African road trip”. Drawing inspiration from around Mzansi, the trailers give you a chance to experience different parts of beautiful South Africa from the comfort of your rooftop accommodation. Each Airstream trailer has a queen-size bed, wet room with a shower, and modern comforts like TV, aircon and fridges. The Grand Daddy’s trailer suite, called Winelands, is the largest of the Airstream trailers and has an open-plan bedroom with a spacious lounge area.
