Enjoy coffee and breakfast overlooking the lake before transferring by helicopter to the colonial town of Antigua. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of the best preserved colonial cities in the Americas. It is a magical and captivating place with its colonial architecture, scenic setting and crumbling ruins. Strolling through town on the cobblestone streets, you will find are art galleries, craft boutiques, coffee shops, gourmet restaurants, quaint bars and more.
This afternoon try your hand at chocolate making in an interactive class where you’ll learn about this important seed and work with the kernel, brew, toast and grind it to form elaborate chocolates as we know them. The tour includes a visit to the chocolate museum. Dinner is on your own tonight and we can assist with restaurant recommendations and reservations.
After breakfast on day 5 enjoy a guided walking tour of Antigua. You will visit breathtaking colonial monuments and find out why this city was the bustling center of the region for the Spaniards. Discover the secrets of Antigua’s traditional history and art. Admire the colonial architecture of the XVI century churches, buildings, fine arts, terracotta ceramics, wooden sculptures and a great variety of traditional weavings. After lunch in town (on your own account), enjoy an afternoon at leisure further exploring the sights, markets and shops of Antigua. Our guide will provide recommendations on the best of Antigua’s dining scene. Dinner reservations are recommended and we can assist with those in advance.
