Sentinel Mara Camp
The Camp
Sentinel Mara Camp is an owner run luxury seasonal camp along the banks of the Mara River within the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is well hidden within the riverine forest so that you don’t know that you are approaching until you are actually in this gorgeous little camp.
The feel is deliciously old fashioned with only 7 en suite tents together with the lounge and dining tents along the river in the forest offering excellent privacy. Specially designed campaign furniture adorns the camp creating the atmosphere of the traditional East African safari while at the same time affording a significant measure of luxury to guests.
The Tents
Accommodation consists of seven large tents, sheltering under large trees, each with excellent views of the Mara River. Each tent is tastefully furnished with campaign furniture to capture the romance and adventure of a bygone era.
Furnishings include twin or queen beds, a writing desk and chair, bedside tables, canvas wardrobe, laundry basket, luggage rack, large wooden chest, canvas chairs and butlers trays on the tent’s verandah. There are en-suite facilities with hot showers and porcelain flushing toilets, as well as solar lighting in all tents, with the opportunity to charge phones and cameras in the lounge tent and vehicles.
Wi-Fi as well as charging facilities are available in the lounge tents.
The Activities
This area is renowned for its excellent cat sightings with leopards, cheetahs and lions in abundance while other exciting creatures to keep an eye out for include spotted hyena, serval, aardwolf, side-striped and golden jackal. Elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes are also frequently seen while the lucky guest might even see a black rhino.
In addition to time spent relaxing at the camp and enjoying the river views and wildlife coming to drink, activities include twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks and bird walks in the forest around the precincts of the camp. There is also a longer walk on the escarpment with rewarding views that stretch forever. Visits to a nearby Masai village can be arranged, and balloon safaris with champagne breakfast.
