Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. It’s an awesome wildlife experience. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the floor of the Crater so you can spend most of the day exploring. Overnight Acacia Farm Lodge. All meals included.

Day 7, 8 & 9: Northern Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Manyara airstrip, where you bid your private safari guide farewell and take the light aircraft flight to the far Northern reaches of the Serengeti. You will be met by your guide from your Serengeti camp or lodge and head to camp unpack and have lunch.

This area of lush, rolling grassland and tree-lined watercourses is the hub around which the Serengeti migration circulates. During the dry season, the herds mass on both banks of the Mara River, frequently crossing - and braving the crocs - in response to local weather patterns that only they seem to understand. Away from the river, this area of rolling savannah, boulder-strewn hillsides and fig-tree groves, is littered with inconceivably enormous herds of wildebeest, topi and zebra – as well as all the predators that gorge on this movable feast. Needless to say, the game-viewing is world-class. Cheetah, lion and elephant especially make for fantastic sighting, but it’s not unheard of to see the Big Five in a day.

Northern Serengeti

Lemala Tented Camp

Three nights at Lemala Tented Camp. All meals and local drinks included.

Day 10 & 11: Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

Bid your Tanzanian guide farewell at the airstrip this morning and take the light aircraft flight to the Northern Serengeti and from there to the Migori border crossing. You will cross into Kenya on foot and be met on the other side by your Kenyan pilot for the short flight into Masai Mara, where you will be met at the airstrip your private guide and safari vehicle and be transferred to your lodge for lunch before the afternoon game drive.

No other place on earth compares with the multitudes of wild animals found in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, part of the vast Serengeti eco-system spanning Kenya and Tanzania. During the summer months (approximately July–September), the Great Migration comprised of 1.5 million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra make the Maasai Mara their home. Here herds of zebra, wildebeest, and topi mingle on the short grass plains keeping an eye out for numerous predators, including lion, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. Maasai giraffe and impala graze in the woodlands and hippos and crocodiles bask along the shores of the Talek and Mara Rivers. The Masai Mara is also home to one of the great fighting tribes of Africa, the Maasai whose culture is both fascinating and truly unique.

Arriving at the Camp, lunch will be prepared for you and hopefully there will be time for an afternoon siesta. An evening game drive is on offer, returning back at the camp for dinner and an opportunity to look back at your day and relive all those highlights.

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is 33000 acres of outstanding natural that directly borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The conservancy ensures a true wilderness experience with one of the lowest tourist densities in the Mara region. The area is teeming with wildebeest during the migration season and there are several prides of lions and many elephants. Endangered species such as rhino and wild dog are also evident. The conservancy applies the concept of community conservancies to enable local communities to live in harmony with the wildlife whilst also benefiting from a source of income from conservation.

Explore this remarkable eco-system with your camp guide. Kicheche Bush Camp is just one of four camps currently operating within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which boasts the region’s lowest vehicle density with no mini-buses, and lowest ratio of guests to land.
