A Tanzania Safari!

Home to some of the largest and most underdeveloped safari game reserves in Africa, Tanzania also boasts Africa’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro; one of the most famous archaeological sites, Olduvai (Oldupai) Gorge; and the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage site as well as the legendary endless plains of the Serengeti. The Northern Serengeti is an ideal first-time safari with Big 5 game viewing, cultural interactions and breathtaking landscapes. The Southern Tanzania parks of Ruaha, Katavi and Selous are wild and remote and off-the-beaten path hideaways for repeat African safari travelers, true adventurers or wildlife photography safari enthusiasts.

On the shores of Lake Tanganyika, Mahale National Park is home to one of Tanzania’s two habituated chimp populations and the luxurious Greystoke Mahale Camp. Tracking chimps in the wild is one of the top wildlife experiences in Africa. Coastal Tanzania is graced with wildlife reserves such as Saadani National Park and palm-lined beaches at Ras Kutani. The islands of Spice Island of Zanzibar and nearby Pemba are peaceful getaways at the end of a busy safari. Zanzibar’s rich Swahili culture and cuisine provide a colorful contrast to mainland Tanzania. We recommend adding several nights to relax and unwind from days of early mornings in the bush.

A Tanzania safari brims with spectacular accommodation options whether your looking for a luxury honeymoon safari, family vacation safari, are more budget minded or a bucket list adventure of a lifetime. Throughout the vast Serengeti, breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater and the wildlife-rich Tarangire there’s truly a safari style available for all. This unique African country also boasts some the most secluded safari areas in its southern and western regions. An African safari adventure in the Selous offers amazing opportunities to spot the endangered African wild dog as it is home to about one third of the remaining population.

Katavi National Park in western Tanzania sees only a small fraction of the country’s safari tourism and as a result, remains extremely wild and unaltered. Tanzania boasts amazing African wildlife including the Big”5″, thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the Great Migration and the large cats and other predators that follow. Whether you set out to conquer the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro or safari through the most remotes parts of the country, Tanzania has a diversity that offers something for everyone and with several trips to this incredible country under our belts, we are excited to plan your nest big African safari adventure!
