This morning you will rise early for the transfer to the regional Nairobi Wilson Airport for the short light aircraft flight to Amboseli National Park. On arrival in the park, you will be picked up by your Tortilis Camp guide and head straight onto a game drive on the way to your camp: the perfect opportunity to get a taste of the safari life you will be living over the coming days. After checking in and exploring the many ‘hidden gems’ of the lodge, pre-dinner drinks at the lodge provide a welcome rest before dinner is served under the stars. Your elegant safari lodge, nestled on a hillside on its own private conservancy, offers extraordinary views across the open plains to the world’s tallest free standing mountain; Mt Kilimanjaro.
The following day you will explore on a morning game drive. The parks fragile ecosystem supports a variety of game and is famous for its large herds of elephant. Swamps and springs, fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow, offer a watering place for the wildlife and birds during the dry season.
Enjoy a relaxed afternoon and at around 3.30 PM, visit the Cynthia Moss research center (Amboseli Trust for Elephants) during the visit you are hosted by one of the researchers and are given information about the work and elephant behavior. Back at camp a piping hot shower awaits you before sitting down to dinner.
