After breakfast, you will be transferred to Xunantunich Archaeological Site. Enjoy a guided horseback riding tour through the site, visiting the most important monuments. The tours starts at the nearby Hanna’s stables and finishes at the banks of the Mopan River. Xunantunich was a Mayan Ceremonial Center in the Late Classic Period and during its peak, this site sheltered over 200,00 people. The structure called El Castillo rises 130 feet above the plaza level making it one of the tallest buildings in Belize and offering an impressive panoramic view over the Mopan River valley. Xunantunich is also home to a large stucco frieze and a mask with larger ears next to a moon sign with a border of signs representing Venus. After a picnic lunch, transfer back to the lodge for time to take a dip in the pool or enjoy a massage (additional cost).
